Jasper Community Arts manages the Arts Wing of the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center which features over 6,000 square feet of exhibiting space across three galleries. The Galleries feature seventeen visual arts exhibits annually. JCA also manages the Jasper Arts Center which hosts a number of performances in its 675 seat auditorium and hosts a variety of educational outreach programs, plus workshops, lectures, and special events. Jasper Community Arts is a Department of the City of Jasper.

Eligibility
This competition is open to any artist, 18 and older who is a current or former resident of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan or Ohio. No students please.
Awards
$2,000 in Merit Awards will be presented at the discretion of the Juror.
Juror
Darryl Halbrooks is an artist, writer and professor emeritus from Eastern Kentucky University as well as visiting professor at East Carolina University. His artwork varies greatly in subject matter and style, ranging from abstract to hyper-real.

"My first real duty is to entertain and please myself. If I know the work is good, I can write about tragedy, paint fake religious figures or total abstractions...and have the most fun ever."

He works every day in his studios in Kentucky or Colorado. His work has been included in over 200 exhibitions, including solo shows at the Huntington (WVA) Museum, the Memphis Museum of Art and elsewhere. His work is represented in many private, public and corporate collections. He is the author of twelve books of fiction and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Specifications & Restrictions
Work may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Size restricted to 72 - 90 inches with a weight limit not to exceed 80 pounds (if hung on the wall). ALL WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL, COMPLETED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS, AND NOT PREVIOUSLY HUNG IN JCA'S GALLERIES.
Presentation
& Framing
Canvas paintings must be stretched, framed and wired; warped canvases will be rejected. Drawings, watercolors and other mixed media paintings must be under Plexiglass unless hand delivered. Artwork must have D-Ring hanging armature or similiar, or a previous discussion must be had with our curator. Do not ship any paintings under glass.
Entry Information
NOTE: All selections will be made only from digital images submitted!
A non-refundable jury fee of $25 will be assessed for one or two images. Awards will be based upon digital presentation. Accepted images will be kept for publicity purposes including color reproduction for the postcard in the local media. Images can be sent online, via mail or e-mail and should be in JPG format. All submissions must be named by the artist's last name followed by the first initial, and then the title of the artwork.

A completed image list on the entry from must accompany each entry. Jasper Community Arts is not responsible for loss or damage to entries submitted. Entries may be submitted online and paid with by credit card, or mailed with a completed hard copy form, check, and images on CD or e-mailed as attachments.
Deadline for receipt of images is July 14, 2024

Delivery & Return of Accepted Entries
Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered or shipped, by the date indicated. Crates must be sturdy and reusable. STYROFOAM PEANUT PACKING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. All works will be returned in the same crates and manner as received. Shipping costs are entirely the responsibility of the artist.
